"Have You Heard" Newspaper Articles Posted with the Permission of the Streetsboro Church of Christ.

Over the past few weeks, we have begun to answer the question, “What must I do to be saved?”.  We’ve noticed that one must first come to a belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. This is done through a careful study of the Bible. Then, one must repent of (turn from) his sins. However, we can’t stop there. The Bible points out that there is something else that we must do to be saved from our sins.

Confess our Faith in Christ

Confess Christ Before Men“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10). Notice that this is a conditional statement. If you confess your faith in Christ then “you will be saved”. This verse tells us that we all must make a confession before we will be saved. The confession that we must make is that we believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

We have an example of such a confession being made. In the eighth chapter of Acts, Philip, the evangelist, was sent to a man who needed to be taught about Christ. "Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, 'See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?' Then Philip said, 'If you believe with all your heart, you may.' And he answered and said, 'I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.' So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.” (Acts 8:35-38).

God desires us to verbally express our faith in Christ

In doing so, we are letting the world know,
in no uncertain terms, that we believe in Jesus Christ

“What must I do to be saved?” We must believe in Christ, repent of our sins, and confess our faith in Christ…. But that’s not all! We’ll continue next week.
